Lidefuld
Welcome to our world of interesting and useful products.
Here you find novelty gifts and you get to know the quirky facts behind them. We have over the years made products ranging from very useful (such as Limey) to highly eccentric at the very peak of the Maslow Pyramid (such as Décantheure).
After being regularly approached by people interested in buying our products for some years, we have finally decided to create a webshop to facilitate and formalize the transactional issues related to selling products.
We know that some of our products might not appeal to a large crowd of potential users. That’s totally fine with us. However, all producs appeal to us (if not why create them?), and we can assure you that they were all fun to design.
The meaning of Lidefuld
A rare word
Lidefuld is an old Danish adjective meaning trustworthy or reliable.
There is only one well-documented use of the word. The once famous Danish Poet (and Rear Admiral in the Danish navy) Hans Christian Sneedorff (1759-1824) made a poem where he states: “Men Søemands Troe er lidefuld; Den aldrig endnu har sveget.” (But a sailor’s faith is reliable; it has never broken”.)
As we want to make products that work and last, we think that Lidefuld is the right name for our webshop! We will do everything we can to live up to our name!
Thanks to The British Library and to The Museum of Copenhagen for their collection of splendid illustrations and photos from the past.
